A room for two: how to reconcile tastes and needs

That of having to use the same bedroom for both your children is a very common need: the solution, unless you decide to move to a larger house, is obviously subdivide spaces intelligently, trying to reconcile the needs of both children.

If it is a question of two girls or two boys, the problem is easy to solve because, despite the differences in character, one can undoubtedly aim at furnishings that meet the tastes of both. The question becomes more complicated, however, in the case of having to share a room, are a boy and a girl.

In this case, it is necessary to adapting the room trying to create a different space for each one that reflects their tastes and needs.

Generally speaking, when two boys or two girls or a boy and a girl have to share the same space, one must try to please both by creating, even visually, two rooms in one.

The most difficult thing, of course, is to maintain a certain homogeneity of styles to avoid creating too much of a gap between the two parts of the room and not make it look like a jumble of different styles, thus depriving it of the right touch of style that should never be lacking.

This can be achieved by first of all choosing light-coloured furnitureThe same for both parts of the room, then differentiating them with small stylish details such as accessories: in a girl's room, for example, you can choose beautiful knobs in the shape of flowers o butterfliesperhaps opting for different colours for the two girls, but always maintaining a uniform and pleasing stylistic line.

If two boys are sharing a room instead, one can go for knobs in the shape of cute smile, ufo or funny shapes such as pacmanleaving it up to them to choose the complements they enjoy most.

The same thing can also be done when two children - a boy and a girl - are housed in the same room and therefore need visually different spaces. In this case one can also play a lot with colours, allocating to the children's area some accessories in shades of pink, such as heart handles or nice animalier knobsand do the same with the part reserved for the boy, but declining the same complements in shades of yellow or blue.

To make the room even more comfortable and personalised, one can focus on the wallpaper to cover the wall adjacent to each cot, so as to further differentiate the spaces reserved for each child, leaving the choice of subject to the children and then choosing a blanket and cushions in keeping with the theme, but always trying to keep as much as possible chromatic and visual harmony between the two parties.

Finally always better two desks separate to allow children to draw, study or write in peace and quiet without having to relay between them, while for an additional element of customisation, you can add cute hangers such as Rodvarying shades or prints.

In this way the room, while accommodating two children, will have well-defined spaces that are always harmonious with each other, able to please the youngest children, but also the style requirements of their parents.
